La boulange starbucks

  • Starbucks got the coffee right. Now, it is trying to do the same with the food. The worlds largest coffee chain announced on Monday plans to acquire for $100 million a small artisan bakery chain, Bay Bread and its 19-unit La Boulange bakery brand.

  • SEATTLE (CNN Money) -- Starbucks is getting into the bread business. The Seattle-based coffee chain announced plans Monday to buy San Francisco-based Bay Bread and its La Boulange bakery brand for $100 million.
