USC Security

  • LOS ANGELES, April 27 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Police Department is reinforcing security around the University of Southern California following the deaths of two students near campus.

  • The timing couldnt be worse. The day after the Los Angeles Police Department announced increased security measures for the University of Southern California (USC), a USC security officer fell asleep on the job and was caught on camera, CBS reports.

  • LOS ANGELES (AP) - The University of Southern California and Los Angeles police announced new security measures Thursday following the unsolved killings of two Chinese graduate students near a campus that promotes itself as an international destination.

  • Four officers will be assigned specifically to neighborhoods bordering USC. A city prosecutor will be assigned to the area, more frequent parole checks will be conducted on local gang members and additional security cameras will be installed.

  • The measures go beyond more police on the street to include the sharing of crime data with USC public safety officials, the installation of more security cameras and the addition of a city prosecutor who will focus on cases in and around the campus.
