Catholic gingrich santorum

  • (RNS) More than 40 Catholic leaders and theologians have issued an open letter to Catholic candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, warning them to stop perpetuating ugly racial stereotypes on the campaign trail.

  • In backing Mr. Santorum, the group pushed aside the other Catholic in the race, Newt Gingrich. Mr. Burch praised Mr. Santorum as "a workingman's Republican with a record and a plan which are especially appealing to Catholic voters.
  • (Wall Street Journal)
  • Gingrich received 49 votes, while Santorum won 70. In the third round that "now is the time to stop a moderate from becoming our Party's nominee.

  • and it is factually true that hes Catholic. But the polls show that both Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also a Catholic, are leading Perry overall and among Christian conservative voters. Maybe the man from Paint Creek, Tex.
