Phone bill cramming

  • WASHINGTON -- Federal regulators are seeking $52.6 million from a billing company that they accuse of adding unauthorized charges to consumers phone bills.

  • Here is an update on a phone scam Ive been tracking and warning you about for years. It's called cramming, and it happens when unauthorized charges are put on your phone bill.

  • IDG News Service - The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has voted to require telephone carriers to provide their customers more billing information in an effort to crack down on mysterious, unauthorized charges on phone bills.

  • KARE 11 called the state Attorney Generals office, and she wasnt surprised. Cramming is an unauthorized charge on somebodys phone bill.

  • Last year, the agency accused four Pennsylvania companies of cramming. How charges from companies other than your phone company get on your phone bill is a complicated story, but suffice it to say that it's legal and is all about money.

  • But the FCC did not require phone companies to give customers the option of blocking third-party billing. Even more noticeable is the lack of any FCC action whatsoever on bill-cramming on consumers wireless bills.

  • or cramming. A spokesman with ATT said the company has what they call billing aggregators, companies they allow to bill over the ATT platform. ATT said it doesnt give out phone numbers to the companies, as that is against its privacy policy.
