Netflix outage

- NEW YORK -- Netflix, Instagram and Pinterest are using Twitter and Facebook to update subscribers after a Virginia storm caused server outages for hours. Netflix and Pinterest restored service by Saturday afternoon.

(Contra Costa Times)- An outage of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud in North Virginia has taken down Netflix, Pinterest, Instagram, and other services.
(Venturebeat.com)- Netflix, Pinterest and Instagram were all down Friday due to the storms. These websites were not working, leaving millions at a loss with their favorite pass times unavailable.
(Examiner)- Netflix appears to be back up and running, but Pinterest, Instagram and Heroku still appear to be down.
(Forbes)- Service on Netflix and Pinterest was out for a few hours late Friday. Instagram - the app that allows everyone you know to post photos of what theyre eating on Facebook, Twitter, etc. - was still out as of midmorning Saturday.
(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)- Netflix, Instagram, and Pinterest werent the only victims of a power outage: 1.5 million people in the Washington D.C. area are now without power, which is particularly dangerous given the triple-digit temperatures.
(Gawker)- Pinterest suffered a shorter outage, with just about an hour in between its fall and relaunch. Presumably, millions of users added speedy tech support to their pinboard. As for Netflix, it also suffered a loss in service, about three hours in total.
